A Harp at Your
Wedding.......
The
music you choose for your wedding plays a very important part in
your special day! A harp can add to the occasion with its beauty,
elegance, and romantic sound, and can be used in a variety of
ways. To help you in your decision, here is some general
information.
Ceremony:
The harp
can be set up in any number of locations in the church, hotel,
home, gazebo, etc. The special 15 to 20 minute period while
guests arrive calls for a prelude series of pieces. The wedding
processional is the march going down the aisle. The recessional
is played after the ceremony is over and the bridal party comes
back up the aisle. Music is played until all guests have left the
area. Your own church organist can play these two marches if
desired. Choice of the ceremony pieces can be discussed on the
telephone, via e-mail, FAX or in person, or left up to my
discretion. Special requests are honored if at all possible, and
if I don't own that music, I will play whatever music the bride
furnishes. I have amplification if the area is unusually large.
Other
instruments may
be added to get a fuller sound, such as flute or violin. The harp
can also accompany a vocalist if you have a special person to
sing for your perfect event. Rehearsal for this is usually
immediately before the ceremony. If more time is needed, we can
rehearse at my home at an earlier time, with an additional charge
of $50.
Repertoire:
The traditional bridal marches and other classical standards,
romantic songs if approved by the wedding
coordinator.
Reception:
Lighter
music is in order at this time, and a variety of popular
Broadway, romantic standards, folk, and jazz are the usual
repertoire. If classical is requested, of course this can be your
choice. If the location is different from the ceremony there will
be an additional charge, as if it were a separate party.
Dress
and transportation: I
will wear a dress to compliment the color scheme, or else
orchestra black if you prefer. I will transport my harp in a van,
arriving about one hour before the ceremony is to
start.
Pricing: Because
each wedding is a special event and has unique details to account
for, pricing will be provided upon request. Please contact
Louise
regarding pricing and availability.
Contract
& Deposit: A
Contract is necessary to lay out all the plans in writing, so
there will be a clear understanding of all expectations. A $100
deposit is necessary to hold the calendar date. The balance is
due a week before the wedding. A consultation to discuss details
can be arranged in my home at no extra charge.
