Louise
is a nationally recognized and respected performer, workshop
leader, and panelist at harp conferences and other events
nationwide. These include the American Harp Society, World Harp
Congress, Canadian Folk Harp Society, the Edinburgh, Scotland
Harp Festival and International Society of Folk Harpers and
Craftsmen. The latter group awarded Louise their Lifetime
Achievement Award at their 2003 conference for her promotion of
the folk harp. She has also been a featured performer at the Lyon
and Healy Harp Company's Pop and Jazz Summer Harpfests, and is a
regular at the Somerset Folk Harp Festival in New Jersey.
Louise
grew up in a musical family, with a father who was a high school
band director and built her first harp by hand (pictured at
right). She had musical training in piano and harp since
early childhood, with more advanced studies at Texas Women's
University and with Mildred Dilling in New York City. She was
harpist with Beaumont Symphony, and Baytown Symphony for a number
of years. Her interest in modern harmony led to studies with the
leading pop and jazz artists in the country.
